Addicted to being connected
Every day you are plugged into the web. Emails arrive - you read them. Someone somewhere updates a status - you get a notification. You need to find something out - you Google it. You can’t find your way - you use GPS. Being online is a life line.
And then one day you find yourself disconnected from the web. What’s going on in the world? How does something work? Where am I? Being offline is intimidating.
I am old enough to remember the time before the web. A time when I looked forward to reading the paper the next day. When I used to look stuff up in an encyclopedia. When I looked at a map before I set off to go somewhere. I never felt like I was missing out on something.
